Question of the Week from Multiples & More!

How did you choose your multiples' names?

Did you stick with family names?

Kennedy is a variation of Ken who is Dallas' dad (Grandpa K). Kennedy's middle name is Alexander who is my dad (Papa). Dylan's middle name is Bruno which was Dallas' Grandpa's name.

How do you feel about "matchy" names?

Personally, I do not like "matchy" names. I think it would drive me nuts if the boys had names that matched. They are identical enough as it is and I think totally different names gives them their own identity a little bit more.

Did you worry about their names "coordinating?"

We wanted the names to "flow" to a certain degree. We wanted strong male names and I believe that is what we have.

Did you name your babies before you met them, or wait until you saw them to assign names?

The boys were named at 22 weeks (March 23 2009 to be exact!). Kennedy was always twin A (A for Alexander) and Dylan was always twin B (B for Bruno).

What were your second choices?

We liked Kingston. So it was going to be Kennedy and Kingston. Dallas liked Dexter for our "D" name. I like that name but because of the TV show (Dexter) it was a no go for me!

Did you consider the popularity of a name as a deciding factor?

Nope! Not at all!

  1. Great names! I agree with you and giving the kids their own identity through their names.

  2. I like the names but isn't Kennedy a girl's name??? It's a cute name but seems kind of girly....just my opinion.

  3. Some people think Kennedy is girly for a boys name. I don't know any girl Kennedy's so maybe that is why we didn't have a problem with using it for a boys name. We like it though...kinda like "Ashley" for a boy or girls name :)

  4. Super great names :) I've never met a girl named Kennedy..I'm sure there are girls out there named Kennedy but I haven't personally met one..plus I think it is definitely a boys name. On the other hand I do have a girl friend named Dylan and she is the most girlie girl friend ever lol! And I've also worked with a girl named Dallas, she's a great friend. Kind of weird as far as having masculine names but it works lol. BTW, I love your daughters name..Emma..it rolls smoothly :)
