Dylan and Kennedy are 11 months old!!

Wow! Exactly 1 year ago today, I was in the hospital trying my hardest to keep the babies cooking for as long as possible. Today would have marked my 10th day there. When I think back to that time, I get sad...really really sad. It was such a scary time for us. Being in a hospital for 6 weeks on bed rest is hard. Worrying about every little move I made...wondering if this will be the time that we have to deliver our babies when they are not ready. I know I have "post traumatic stress" over this. I will deal with it one day...not right now though...I am not ready. Here is the post about my hospital stay. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. We are so lucky and blessed that all of us came out of it with no health problems. We have 2 happy, healthy, perfect baby boys. Now they are almost a year old. Each and every day they learn new things and amaze Dallas and I.

The boys are doing so much now. They love to stand up. They try to pull themselves up on everything! It is actually a bit of a problem...we have had a few falls and lots of bumps and bruises! But they are learning.

They have both crawled but still prefer to drag themselves around the apartment. We were so excited when Dylan actually "crawled" for the first time! Kennedy did it today for the first time too. I think once they figure out they can move way faster if they crawl, they will stop dragging themselves around!

They no longer eat baby food..we feed them what we are eating. They love their toast in the morning! They have it with either butter or cream cheese. Kennedy eats sooooo fast! Dylan takes his time and hardly ever finishes. Both babies love water in their sippy cups! They soak themselves and have tons of fun doing it.

The "rule" is to switch a baby to whole milk instead of formula at 1 year of age. We are waiting for their "corrected age". So, 6 weeks after they turn 1...so at the beginning of August they will be off of formula (and hopefully bottles) and they will get whole milk during the day instead.

We are also sooooo excited that Auntie Britty will be here for the boys birthday! I haven't seen my sister since she was here last August! The boys were only 9 weeks old! She will be staying for a week or so and I can not wait! It will be so neat to see her with the boys!

I haven't exactly started planning the boys birthday party yet..I have some ideas but nothing set in stone. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that they are going to be 1...and they are going to be "toddlers" instead of "babies!!"  It is a good thing Baby K is on the way!

Happy Dylan first thing in the morning! It was 30° out for a couple of days so the boys slept in just their diapers!

Kennedy decided diapers are for suckers! This is how I found him this morning. Look how proud he is! That is because usually I hear him open his diaper and stop him... but not this time!

Let the wrestling begin!

I was so happy that I had the camera nearby when this happened! Kennedy was minding his own business when Dylan decided he needed to get to the other side NOW! So, he took the shortest route...right over Kennedy! Kennedy giggled the whole time! Actually, they giggle a lot with each other now. There has been a few times when one baby is on the ground and the other one is pulling himself up using his brother as leverage! So cute!! Here are the pics!

Pulling up on everything!

They sure are little monkeys! The boys are constantly pulling up on anything they can get their hands on. They have mastered standing in their cribs..they are even starting to sit back down themselves too. I am truly grateful for this because it saves me from having to go rescue them each and every time they stand up when they should be going to sleep! After days and day of practice, Dylan finally pulled himself up onto the ottoman! He looked so proud...I took a pic right away! Kennedy likes to stand up holding onto the couch. He also tried to lift his feet to get up but that won't happen for a while. Here are some pics of the boys climbing like crazy!

Mothers Day 2010!

All I can say is that I have the best family in the whole world! I feel so blessed to have Dallas and the boys in my life. My mothers day started off with me sleeping in! Actually, every day Dallas is home he lets me sleep in. I am very lucky that way.  It is his days off and he still wakes up early with the boys! After I woke up, I went into the dining room where I found my mothers day present! I got a beautiful card with new shoes! The envelope was all chewed up from the boys! It was so cute! Only a mother could love a chewed up envelope! When I opened the card, I found both boys hand prints! Total water works started at about this time. How precious and what a great idea! We spent the day as  a family and we had a great time. I feel so loved! Dallas took some pictures that he didn't tell me about. I found them when I was downloading some other pics. You will notice that the boys are sitting on the table while Dallas takes a pic! I would have freaked out! But, the pictures turned out great!

New big boy car seats!!

Well...it is official. The boys no longer fit into their baby car seats. I have mixed emotions about this. It was getting really really heavy lugging them around in the infant carriers. It was somewhat easier, but it was getting a bit ridiculous! So, we went out and bought the babies Safety 1st Alpha Omega 3 in 1 car seats! They are rear facing until 35lbs, so we are good to go! After doing much research, we have decided to keep the boys rear facing for as long as we can! It really is the safest way!!They won't get much use out of our dual DVD players in the Magnum, but I think that is ok! I would rather then be safe. Luckily, Daddy D installed the seats while the boys and I were sleeping! Oh...and it looks like there is just enough room for Baby K in between the boys as well! I am so happy we didn't buy the minivan!! Here are some pics!

Baby K Update...First appointment with our midwife!

Today was our very first appointment with our midwife! It takes just over an hour to get to her office, so we decided to make a day out of it.

I first want to say that I am over joyed with how our "midwife journey" is going to far. We got to her office and the boys played on the floor while Dallas and I sat on a couch and talked with her. It was so cozy and nice! We talked about all kinds of stuff. We went over our experience with the boys during my pregnancy with them. I asked her all kinds of questions as well. The appointment made us feel relaxed and confident that we made the right choice in going with a midwife instead of a doctor. She took my blood right there...no going to a lab! It was great! We tried to hear Baby K's heartbeat, but it was still a bit too early. We go back in 4 weeks to see her again.

Once thing we asked her about was if we should also use a  Doula. If we do decide to use one, she would be with us helping us out from the minute labour starts. Doulas are non-medical labour coaches. She would help us through early labour and stay with us for the birth of our baby.  Our midwife is the one who will deliver the baby and typically doesn't come until you are about 4cm's along. I really didn't know what a doula was until I asked our midwife. So between our midwife and a doula, we would be totally and completely covered! Dallas and I still have to talk about us using a doula. We are heading towards getting one for sure but there is an extra expense that comes with using one so we need to make sure we are making the right choice. In my opinion, we could use all the support we can get. If using a doula helps to make our dreams of having a VBAC come true, then there is no reason not to use one!

After our appointment with our midwife, we went our to lunch at Swiss Chalet! It was the very first time the boys went to a restaurant! They did great...of course they were a huge hit as well! After lunch, we went shopping. I swear, everywhere we take these babies tons of people stop us! It really makes us feel blessed!

Kennedy AND Dylan crawling!

I finally took a video of both babies crawling around. They follow each other all around the house now! I didn;t notice it when it happened, but at one point Dylan kicks poor Kennedy in the face :( Poor baby! Here are some pics of the boys exploring our cloth diaper rack as well! Enjoy!

Rub a dub dub...first time in the tub! (together!)

Today marks the very first time the boys had a bath in the tub together! Usually, Dallas bathes them one at a time...but he is not here so I figured we would try it out. They had a blast!!! They liked it so much that I let them have 2 baths today. I only put about 2 inches of water in along with towels underneath them. I drain the water out before I remove the first baby. After the water is out, I grab one baby and put him in his bunny bath robe and sit him on the floor. Then I grab the second baby and do the same. I don't leave the room for a second. Here are some pics! I think the boys will be spending a lot more time in the bath now that I know they love it so much!
