You have to get creative when you are by yourself with 2 10 month olds!

I am not going to lie...it is HARD without Dallas here. I try my hardest to get everything done including showering once a day. Some people may take advantage of being able to shower whenever you like. Mommas of multiples (or any babies at all) who are by themselves have to get creative about finding time to shower. I used to shower at night when the boys were sleeping but it kinda freaked me out...I would always think I heard someone come in when I was in the shower. So, I started to shower when the babies were awake. To keep them entertained, I turned to my good friend Tupperware. I don't know where I got the idea from (I think out of desperation to find something new to keep the boys entertained one day) but they LOVE their Tupperware time!  I put them in their cribs, give them a bunch of Tupperware with lids and they stay entertained for long enough for me to have a shower. Brilliant! So now there is a stash of Tupperware that stays on the boys dresser for easy access!

Baby K Update...Everything is starting to come together!

So I went for my ultrasound today. There is just 1 baby! Actually,
just 1 gummy bear...thats what he/she looked like! A gummy bear with a
little flickering heart...so cute! Heart rate was 174. I am exactly
right on with my calculations so I am due December 3rd. It was too
early to see where the placenta attached..we have to wait for 20
weeks. BUT....WE GOT A MIDWIFE!!!! It is so hard to get one right now!
As of April 2010 (this year) midwives are covered by health care so
they are super hard to come by! But we got one!!!! We will be
delivering au natural at the Royal Alex (where the boys were born). There is a new wing there  as well with brand new (Opening May 2010) birthing
rooms! They also have tubs right in the room so we can do a water
birth if we wanted to! We will give birth, then we are able to leave
2-4 hours later! No staying over at the hospital...I am thrilled about
this...I think I have staying overnight in hospitals for long enough!

So, we will see the midwife for all of our prenatal care (No going to
the doctors!!!) I have her cell number if something comes up and I
need to ask a question. The only bad thing is that she is 1 1/2
hours away. But, we can schedule all the appointments for when Dallas
is home.  Our first appointment is next Friday!

She also said that if there is an issue at 20 weeks with the placenta,
we will deal with it then! I am so happy this is all working out! I
will get the birth experience I have dreamed about!!

Dylan pulling up to stand!

Once again, our little DK learned something new! I was changing Kennedy's diaper on the floor and Dylan was still in his crib looking down at us. All of a sudden he grabbed onto the side of the crib and stood up all by himself! I quickly grabbed the camera (leaving Kennedy bare naked!) and got a video of him doing it again! So proud of our little stinker!

Baby K Update...My Plan!

So far, Baby K has given me all the same awful symptoms that I had with the boys. Excessive morning (all day) sickness, pure exhaustion, smell aversions...the list goes on and on! We went to the doctors last week and we kinda sorta told a white lie. First let me mention that this is our family doctor. Typically he only looks after pregnant women until they are 20 weeks along. After that we have to go to an OB.  He asked if I know how far along I was and I said no....I totally know how far along I am, but I also know how to play the game. I learned A LOT from my pregnancy with the boys. I know how the system works. I paid attention and now I will use that knowledge to get answers myself...answers that I would not have gotten until I was 20 weeks along. I am not going to just sit back and rely on my doctors this time...It didn't get me very far last time. I am going to take total control of this pregnancy and not take "no" for an answer.

You see when you are pregnant here, you don't get your first ultra sound until you are 20 weeks. Unless of course if you "have no idea" when you had your last period....If you don't know this information, the only way to find out is by an ultrasound. They measure your little baby and tell you everything you need to know.  Now, I am not doing this because I want to see my itty bitty baby. I am ok with not seeing him/her. The less ultrasounds we have the better (there is conflicting evidence that tells you ultrasounds are bad for the baby...They say that when you are having an ultrasound, the baby hears very loud noises from the machine...like a freight train is coming at them....not going to get into that, but it makes you think!). The reason why I want an ultrasound asap is to make sure the previa is not back. I want to know that the placenta is attached at the top of my uterus and not at the bottom again. I have this fear that everything that happened with the boys is going to happen again. I have a plan for this baby and I have a plan for giving birth to him/her and the only way it can happen is if the placenta previa is not there.

Now, I know this is left in God's hands. I know I can not control what happens and where the baby is positioned. But, I can educate myself and listen to my body. I can search for answers and I can hope and pray that I can have an all natural VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) that I have dreamed of. The only thing holding me back is the position of the placenta....and maybe some doctors who don't agree with my plan...but that will come later!

I have already started my journey looking for a midwife who can help me. I have emailed every single one in Alberta. So far, it is not looking too good. Some of them will not work with me because of where I live...some won't work with me because they don't do VBAC's. There is one midwife who asked me to fill out additional information. They told me to find out the location of the placenta and I will hear from them within a month. I hope and pray that they take me. We will not have the home birth that we want, but this midwife works out of the Royal Alexandra hospital...This is the hospital that I had the boys at! So if she takes us, I will give birth without drugs, without doctors, without intervention of any kind, without being strapped to a hospital bed...all natural...listening to my body...giving birth the way mother nature intended. If something does go wrong, then we are safe. We are at the hospital and we can take the steps needed for me and the baby to be safe.

Don't get me wrong...I am grateful that technology is so advanced that it was able to save myself and my baby boys. I thank God each and every day that I have my boys and that there was an answer to our situation. I just have this "need" to experience labour, birth, and bonding with my baby right after I have him/her. I don't think that is too much to ask and I am going to do every single think in my power to make this happen...even if that means telling a little white lie to our doctor :)

10 months old!

Our babies are getting closer and closer to the toddler years. For the monthly update this time, I am going to do a separate one for each baby. Their personalities are so different now I think they deserve to have a separate update!

Kennedy Alexander Kyle (AKA Mr. Kennedy, The Aggressive one, The bigger brother)

Eating~ All I can say is this little man can eat! Kennedy started holding his own bottles a couple of weeks ago. Honestly, that helps me so much! He is very eager with his bottle. As soon as I bring it into the room he gets super excited! He GRABS it out of my hand and puts it into his mouth so fast!!! He is so funny! He loves loves loves his cheerios! He also loves yogurt and his baby cereal. I tried giving him a popsicle the other day because he was teething so bad. He HATED the cold feeling on his mouth!! He made the grossest face and looked at me like I was crazy!

Sleeping~ After about 1 1/2 months, I finally got them back on their sleeping schedule. Kennedy falls asleep really really good. I lay him down with his suckie and his blankets and he falls asleep. The problem with Kennedy however, is that he wakes up during the night. He was waking up at 4:30am but now he starts waking up at 6:30am. He wakes at 6:30am, 7:30am, 8am, then finally 9am when he is ready to get out of bed. When he wakes each time, he cries and I go (like a fool) and give him his suckie and his blanket. If I do not go then he will actually wake up and want to get up for the day. So I go in...set him up again and he falls back asleep for a bit.  I am hoping this will slow down soon. I am just happy that he is not waking up in the middle of the night to feed!

Mobility~ Kennedy is starting to come around with his mobility. He army crawl when he really really wants something. He still rolls a bit. He is coming along though!

Playing~ Kennedy is our aggressive baby. He is a toy "hoarder" he takes all of the toys Dylan has and he puts them in a pile beside himself. He doesn't play with them all...he just wants what his brother has! When my friend came over with her son who is 2 weeks older then the boys, Kennedy did the same thing to him...except Corvin fought back!

Diapers~ I swear this kid thinks it is pure torture when I change him! I have to sit with him in front of me and my feet holding down his arms in order for him to stay still....and that hardly works! He clenches his butt cheeks and lifts his whole body up when I am trying to change him! It always ends in him screaming his head off! I wish there was a way for him to understand that the sooner we get it done, the sooner he can go and play again!

Funny Kennedy Story~ Kennedy is a "grabber" when we pick him up, he grabs a hold of ANYTHING that is near him. Most of the time it is his blankets that he hold onto for dear life! One time, we were in a store and all of a sudden Kennedy pulls out an Easter Egg that be brought with him. I asked Dallas if he gave it to him and he said no...Kennedy must have grabbed it himself before we picked him up and brought it with him!

Dylan Bruno Kyle (AKA Dylan bum, The sensitive one, The little brother)

Eating~ Dylan just started holding his own bottle as well. He is actually pretty good at it now! After he has a bunch to drink, he bites on the bottle so the formula sprays all over his face! He also loves his cheerios! If I put my hand in front of him with cheerios in it, he will grab them all!!! Then, he tries to get them all into his mouth! When we tried the popsicle  with him (our neighbour Eduardo tried it) he loved it! He ate the whole thing!! Dylan eats a bit slower than Kennedy...which is nice! He doesn't choke nearly as much.

Sleeping~ What can I say about Dylan and sleeping? Well...if Kennedy thinks getting his butt changed is pure torture then Dylan thinks going to bed is pure torture! He cries and cries and cries!!! I lay him down, give him his suckie and blanket, and he cries. He turns over and goes up on his knees and rocks back and forth and cries. So, I give it a bit, go back and and repeat the process. It usually takes about 1/2 hour for him to settle down. But then, he sleeps all night. No waking at all! I blame it on the fact that he is going to be reaching some milestones soon...actually I think that is true for both of them. Their brains are learning so much that it is hard to settle down. No biggie really...it could be worse!

Mobility~ Dylan is our fast little army crawler! He escapes from baby jail with ease! He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He is so close to actually crawling! I love the fact that he is doing this before his brother. It seems that Kennedy always learns something new first.

Playing~ Poor Dylan. He is so sensitive. Gotta love him! Or course, his big brother steals all of his toys. Dylan doesn't try to get them back..he pouts and he cries.  I try to explain to him that he has to stick up for himself or Kennedy is going to walk all over him, but he doesn't get it yet. It will come though...in time. There is a very small aggressive side to him though. He will try to take a toy of Kennedy but then Kennedy will steal it back and Dylan will get upset. In the end, this is something that they have to figure out themselves. Mommy is not always going to be there to stop them from doing things (unless they are in harm of course). They are twins and they will work it out themselves. They have a bond like no other. They know what is going on...Dylan knows that Kennedy is coming to steal his toys. Dylan will get it soon enough!

Diapers~ Diaper changes with Dylan are pretty good. He doesn't put up too much of a fight. I usually don't have to use my "monkey feet tactics" on him like I do with his brother!

Funny Dylan Story~ Dylan is our little investigator! He loves to look for itty bitty things on the ground. His favourite thing to crawl towards is wires! He is surprisingly quiet when he is on these missions, but we always catch him! Hmmmm... maybe he will be an electrician like his daddy!

Baby Jail!!

Now that the boys are mobile, it is time to think of their safety. When I am cooking or cleaning the kitchen or running to get the laundry or throwing one baby in the bath because his diaper exploded, it is good to have a safe place to put the other baby. We decided to get this big "playard" because it is nearly impossible for us to baby proof the whole apartment. The boys actually like it! It has all of their toys in it and they love to play, so it works out well! It is also big enough for mommy to lay down in it when she is not feeling good because of Baby K! Another good thing about it is that it is totally customizable. we can make it really big and attach it to the wall, or we can bring it camping with us! Here are some pics of our Baby Jail! There are also some pics of the boys Jail Break!!

Video of Dylan Army Crawling!

We are in trouble now!! Dylan has mastered the "army crawl"! Kennedy just started doing it yesterday as well. I don't have a video of Kennedy yet.

You will see Dylan crawl, then look back at his brother as if to say "Are ya coming?" then crawl some more. The video finishes off with Dylan giving me a High 5!! Too cute!!

Daddy D is leaving tomorrow :(

Well, the time has come. Dallas got a job and he is leaving tomorrow. He is working in Lac Labiche as an electrician apprentice. He will be gone for 10 days at a time, then home for 4. They set him up with an apartment and everything he needs to live. I am sad! Not only is he my love, but he is also  my best friend and I am going to miss him terribly!!! I know the time will go by fast, but it is still hard! So, it will be me and the boys....and Baby K of course! Because we know his schedule, we will be able to schedule all the doctor appointments and ultrasounds for Baby K for when Dallas is home. Man...I am going to miss him :(

First time on the deck!

The weather was about 20° yesterday, so we decided to bring the babies out onto the deck for the first time! They weren't as impressed as I though they would be...Dylan was our little explorer, while Kennedy stayed put. I can't wait for the boys to experience grass for the first time. Here are some pics!!

We're PREGNANT!!!

Here is Dylan's response...
Photobucket

It came as a bit of a shock to us but we are happy. So far our due date is December 3rd. We are waiting for an ultrasound appointment to confirm that (and to make sure there is just one itty bitty baby).  If the baby is born December 3rd, we will have 3 babies under the age of 1 1/2!!! I LOVE that they will be so close in age! They will grow up together and play together so nicely! We aren't going to find out the sex of the baby until he/she gets here but we are hoping for a girl! But, if we do have another boy, we will be just as happy!

Our Ebay Store!

So, it is official. I am not going back to work after my year off with the boys. I am thrilled about this! Although I will miss my old job  and all my friends I made there.  To bring in some extra money, we have opened an Ebay store! It is just small right now. Because there was no place I could find Babylegs in Canada (see post here), I have decided to sell them on Ebay along with other items! I have been busy setting up the store while Dallas has been home to take care of the babies. Right now we have only 10 different styles of Babylegs. We have a ton more on there way! Different brands and different styles. It is very exciting! Anyways if you check out our store and decide you want something, mention this blog and we will give you 5% off! Here is the link to our store http://stores.shop.ebay.ca/Your-Favourite-Items. You can also find it on the left hand side of our blog!

Easter!

Because the boys are still getting over being sick, we stayed home for Easter. The Easter bunny came and left a ton of plastic eggs for the boys! He also left them a bunny stuffed animal! The eggs that he left on their highchairs have cheerios in them. Some of them were even filled with uncooked pasta so the boys can shake them!! The boys had tons of fun with the Eggs. They love to chew on them and they had a blast knocking them out of the big basket they were in! Here are some pics!
